In January my family reserved a vacation villa for the entire Summer in Florida (as we do most Summers). We paid a security deposit to secure the booking ($500) and then soon after that paid half the total price of the rental.. with the final half to be paid the week before we go.

The villa was chosen from many on its merits and carefully selected due to location etc.
We had a letter today from the booking agent to say that due to unforseen circs. that villa is no longer availble (the owner wants to use it). We have been reallocated another villa for the same price etc. but we have to arrive 3 days later. We had booked flights etc so had to change our flights which cost $200 fee.
Its OK and everything but are the rental company (who are like an agent) allowed to just do this when we had paid and reserved an actual villa which we now arent getting?
